PeopleStreets News Guidelines

Welcome, fellow urbanists! This is a community for sharing stories about transforming our streets into places for people. Think of it as your daily dose of tactical urbanism, bike lane victories, and pedestrian paradise inspiration.

What to Share

Yes Please!

  • Cool street transformations (before/after pics are always a hit!)
  • New bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and car-free zones
  • Public transit wins and innovations
  • Data showing how removing parking made everyone happier
  • Local advocacy success stories
  • Urban experiments that worked (or didn't—we learn from those too!)
  • Research about walkable cities, street safety, and public spaces
  • Creative solutions for better streets from around the world

Maybe Not

  • Car stuff (unless it's about having fewer of them)
  • Random traffic complaints (we're here for solutions!)
  • Politics that isn't directly about streets and cities
  • Generic infrastructure news without the people angle
  • That one pothole on your street (unless you've got a brilliant fix)

How to Share

Titles

Keep it real and clear. No need to shout—we're all excited about good urbanism here!

Examples:

  • "Utrecht removes canal highway, restores historic waterway"
  • "Paris data shows business boomed after bike lanes replaced parking"
  • "AMAZING transformation!! You won't BELIEVE what this city did!!!"

Comments

  • Share your experiences! We love hearing how things work in different cities
  • Got expertise? Awesome! Share it in a way everyone can understand
  • Disagree with an approach? Explain why and share alternatives
  • Keep it constructive—we're all here to make better cities
  • Remember that change takes time (though we wish it didn't!)

Quick Tips

  • Include your city/country when sharing local stories
  • Add [PDF] or [Video] to titles when relevant
  • Share original sources when you can
  • Feel free to nerd out about data, but explain your charts
  • Get permission before claiming a bike lane protected by potted plants was "guerrilla urbanism"

Remember:

PeopleStreets News is about sharing ideas and inspiration for better streets and cities. Every story, comment, and discussion should help us learn how to make that happen.
